Big bird Airbus A380 flies home

提交时间:

Durban - It is not only the biggest in the sky, but also the quietest aircraft, so the chances of one hearing the British Airways Airbus A380 are slim. However, Durban residents and aviation enthusiasts caught a glimpse of the A380 during its pilot training and “man versus plane” event on Monday. It is the first time an aircraft of this magnitude has been brought to King Shaka International Airport, which is one of a handful of airports that can handle the A380. It touched down in Durban last… (www.iol.co.za) 更多...

I have witnessed the A380 at close quarters both at BHX and with low level passes en-route to LHR over my home. It is the quietest 'Heavy' that I have known and I am very disappointed because I expected some kind of noise disruption from this beast.

I get more noise from RAF Chinooks and Merlins with the occasional Hercules, A330, TriStar and Typhoon flypasts going to Brize Norton but I always seem to miss the 747's and A380's and they are often at low FL's enroute to LHR over my very own roof!

See the Russian AN225 if you REALLY want to see a BIG jet.

The A380 is the largest 'commercial airliner'. So while not the largest plane ever, nor even the largest plane flying today, calling it the largest airplane is understandable.

But the plane is a super jumbo. Calling it the quietest plane, is not only on the face it far from true, but also an absurd claim.

Makes the person making the claim sound ignorant and/ or unreliable.

In this link you can learn something about noise on A380:

Give some facts to support your claims about the A380 noise levels or your comment can be consider as trash-talking.

If you must compare, best to compare current aircraft.

'Incidentally, the 747-8 is certified to a lower community (QC) noise level on takeoff than the A380, and the same level for approach, so overall community noise from the 747-8 is lower.'

Though I wouldn't claim either elephant is quiet. Not when every other current plane from either maker is less noisy.
