Everyone at Airbus are smiling a lot more these days. I remember the 80's to see if they would survive. Boeing build good aircraft they are just going through more teething on this model.

After this fiasco and deliveries completed they should consider retiring this line and concentrate on new models. This model happened to be a well polished turd.

While I believe all new models go through teething issues when first launched I would observe that this is not a teething issue. It appears to be a system that has a poor design followed by inadequate testing and poor FMEA testing. Boeing had their fair share of start up issues with the 787, which was a brand new design and to some extent their issues were not (and still not) all of theirs. I am thinking of the engine issues. I worked on a brand new (non aviation) product design and it was interesting to see that as we released more product in to the market the potential issues that we had concern about proved to be robust and reliable, and the issues we had were with "carry over" components that had experienced minor changes that would have occured on either the new or the older models.

I would love to see the 797 start flying in the near future; that much I can get behind.
