My first flight in 1970 was on a TWA 747 from ORD to LAX. I was on a student standby ticket, so I got the middle seat. As we flew over the Grand Canyon the pilot rocked the aircraft so both sides could see. I couldn’t see, so the nice lady sitting next to me led me into the aisle. What a magnificent site. My flight home was SFO-ORD on an American Airlines 747. It was August, so there were violent storms all over the Midwest. As we approached Chicago we were rocking and rolling. The pilot announced that it was going to continue to be a rough ride because no other airport in the area could yet accommodate the 747. ORD was our only option. I was in the very last seat in coach where the fuselage narrowed, just about even with the swept back tip of the wing. In the heavy turbulence the wings were flapping like a bird. Other people were terrified. As a 12 year old I was loving it.

Interesting that the article does not mention the GE9X. Does that imply that Delta won’t be ordering the 777x?

Allow for greater fuel storage and the A220 (C300) would be the Bombardier Global 9000.

But if you’re in the air the delivery charge might be a little on the high side.

Back in the 80’s we boarded a United DC10 at ORD and the captain announced that we were going to be delayed because the tire pressure was too low. This was our fourth flight of the day, and we had probably had a little to drink, so we couldn’t stop laughing as we kept imagining a mechanic out there with a bicycle pump inflating the tires. In that case it may have a little bit too much specific information.

The FAA will propose a compromise: Airlines can fly with the software problem, but no ETOPS until it is fixed.

Given the lineage of the A380 (A300 in particular), they were lucky the the vertical stabilizer didn't snap off as a result of the over control of the rudder (AA587 comes to mind).

I don't understand why Boeing keeps coming up with new aircraft models for the mid-size twin engine market when the 767-300ER with a more modern cabin (as United is doing) and updated engines would be a super competitive aircraft. Perhaps they could call it the 767-300NEO. :-)

The distance between KSWF and EICK is 3089 miles. Which model 737 has that range? What are the diversion airports?
