That's not going to buff out. Off to the scrap heap.

Having flown many flights on DL & UA during this pandemic, these airlines are quite specific to the requirements and rules for passengers wearing masks at all times, except when eating or drinking. This abusive DL passenger could now face federal charges (felony?) for interfering (slapping across the face) with a flight crew. Once the passenger is released from jail, hopefully they will never see another TSA checkpoint, or DL & UA check-in kiosk!

Airlines need to raise fares so they can have a chance of breaking even on a flight that might be 60% filled. A plane filled to a higher capacity would be seen as a profit. Better yet, revoke the airline deregulation rules and the government & airlines go back to the days of 4 fares F/Y/Fn/Yn. This worked well back in the days when baggage was free and a meal was served. No hidden fees, no surprises when buying tickets.

Deregulation needs to be revoked. Airlines are like any other business, they should be able to breakeven and possibly show a profit. Restore the 4 fares F/Fn/Y/Yn. Restore free baggage so passengers don't need to emulate the Beverly Hillbillies and bring all their worldly possessions as carryon luggage. Restore meals of some fashion in all seating classes of the plane. I miss the Iranian caviar on LH long haul flights. Yep, I might sound cranky. But after 50 years of commercial flying and millions of miles, I really miss the old days when flying was a privilege, a perk, and since AMTRAK rail service sucks in this country (with the exception of the Acela on the Northeast corridor.

oops - autocorrect changed re-regulation to deregulation.

Mixed feelings about this business move. ExpressJet has not had the best track record over the years. Maybe Commutair's performance has been somewhat better. These regional carriers fly the wings off these planes and maintenance and onetime performance suffers. Perhaps, with a solid contract between UA and Commutair, the regional carrier will invest in "less old" aircraft and do more to keep mechanical issues to a minimum? Anyone up for deregulation of airfares? At least a plane 70% full might make a profit. Anything above that might be profit.

The trailing black marks - possibly engine lubricant? I do the what looks like the Air Ram Turbine deployed. If the PIA fleet was grounded for many weeks, how were they stored and what procedures did PIA follow to return the aircraft to flight ready status? This we may never know. If the FDR & CVR boxes are located, they will give some clarity to this accident.

Delta & Ed Bastian are realists and understand travelers concerns. It's probable that fares will go up, but those increases are valid for some degree of healthy flying on Delta. As far as AA - who cares? Maybe they will be the one to fold in the prediction made by Boeong's CEO? Then there is UA - Oscar Muñoz has done a good job. Have to see how the new CEO will guide the company.

Time to end Reagan era deregulation of the airlines and dynamic pricing for seats. Preregulation, all seats in each class of service had the same value, whether the seat was purchased 6 months before the flight or bought the day of travel. This probably would thin the number of people flying. This would lead to a decrease in the flight frequencies between city pairs and would offer relief to our over burdened (antiquated) ATC network. In the regulated days long ago, I don't recall having near the flight delays and cancelations that haunt flyers today. Just my thoughts...
