Wonder what the cargo for the Super Guppy was this time?
Super shot.
Linda foto...
Alan, it was shuttling a broken T-38.
Love the logo on the nose wheel hatch.
unbelievebel , great
Eine sehr interessante Aufnahme!
Great picture and love reading peoples comments. I always learn something! Thanks!
Martians are coming ....
Possibly one of the most unusual, provocative shots I've ever seen posted here. Amazing, bizarre, fascinating, all at the same time!
The interior looks to be wood.
Such a sight to see! Special delivery!
Awesome. Technically, like the bumble bee, it should be incapable of flight.
Do all flight controls (clearly fly-by-wire) and electrics travel though that hinge point?
A very unique photo of a unusual aircraft, excellent photo!
Joe and Geoff, no it's not made of wood, it's aluminum like most planes and no fly by wire either, in fact it doesn't even have boosted controls, cables, pushrods and muscles for this old plane.

Love the Guppy. BTW...is there a way of clicking through the photos?
This aircraft, I believe, was used to ferry oversize parts for the Shuttle in the 70's. It was built in and around Goleta California.
There were three built. Guppy, Pregnant Guppy and the Super Guppy. I think GM, Raytheon SBRC and other government "Contractors" had them built.
Look up on Wiki.

If that is not a 5 star, very little else is!
Take a B 29 and add......
While there might be B-29 DNA in there they were more directly developed from the 50's era Boeing Stratocruiser/Stratofreighter (which admittedly grew from the B-29/B-50 models), and which had radial engines. With the Guppies, the bodywork growth also necessitated the move to turboprops plus wing and tail mods.
Still an extraordinary aircraft and defies logic in its ability to fly ... or even get off the ground!

Spectacular! A seldom seen view.
linda y guapa foto
Amazing decor for this guppy!
Amazing. The B-29 airframe just goes on and on and on. Those designers from 1941-42 should be extremely proud of how well this platform has endured.
NICE SHOT!
Excellent lighting, and what a unique perspective of this venerable airplane.
where is this?
