Ole 927 B-24 Liberator had a rough landing in Charlotte

提交时间:

It appears the nose gear gave out once the plane touched down. More details will come I'm sure. I watched it fly over the house about 30 minutes before. It was a marvelous sight to see and hear such a beautiful piece of history. Looks like there were no injuries. (www.charlotteobserver.com) 更多...

I talked to the guys flying her this morning. They had to lower the gear manually and they could not get the nose gear locked. It held for a moment after it gently set down, then folded. Scary moment for sure. Their chief mechanic is enroute to look it over and decide what needs to be done. I'll have photos later.

Thanks for the update Brian, I wanted to go down there and grab some pictures but, I'll probably stay by the pool this afternoon, just promise to post them!

Well you might want to head over yourself today or tomorrow. I wound up leaving because of a screw up (the museum's) in volunteer coordination. Got some good shots of the B-29 airborne, but never got back out to the ramp with the camera. Sorry.
