Des Moines airport hits 2 million passenger mark, on pace for another record
For the second consecutive year, more than 2 million travelers have passed through the Des Moines International Airport, which is on pace to break another ridership record. Some 179,846 passengers landed or took off from Des Moines in November, pushing the year total to 2.02 million, according to a report released Thursday. Now one hopes that traffic increase will help Southwest remain in DSM, a far better alternative to MSP.
Actually, by contrast, it would be interesting to see the passenger numbers for OMA, as it is closer to DSM than MSP. Prior to TRS being bought by SWA, most DSM passengers had to make the 110 mile drive to OMA to pick up a SWA flight.
Hopefully it will mean getting some bigger planes,and new destinations.
