Boeing 787 diverted back to San Diego with possible deicing problem
A Boeing 787 Dreamliner headed to Tokyo was diverted back to San Diego because of a possible problem with the aircraft's deicing system. NBC-7 in San Diego reports the Japan Airlines flight left Lindbergh Field shortly after 1:30 p.m. PDT Wednesday. But the plane turned around and landed back in San Diego by 3:10 p.m. PDT. the plane woulnt be in the media if it didn't keep breaking down and catching fire ,
This 'dream' liner isn't sounding much a like of a dream for the airlines as far as media publicity goes. I think the A350 will really steal the show then it starts up.
All have problems old ones and new ones its just the media that's making this AC the whipping boy for there lack of news on other things.
My father, who was in the Air Force in the war years and retired in 1953, told me that all commercial aircraft were test proven by the US Military before being approved for civilian use. This was way back in the 1950's. I guess that was dropped in the name of economy. Maybe it would be a good idea to start again?
Have to agree. A de-icing problem can (and does) happen to any aircraft. In fact there isn't a component on any aircraft built by any manufacturer that can't, and hasn't, failed at some point.
I notice this occurrence happened back last October. Not sure what the relevance is to today. Maybe because the 787 hasn't been in the news lately somebody has to drag something up from the past to try and stir the pot on this engineering marvel(?).
