Shortest trip between DCA and IAD. wtop.com WASHINGTON - A plane landed safely at Dulles International Airport Monday morning after reporting engine trouble. The Boeing 737, which took off from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, apparently experienced left engine failure. Sources tell WTOP there was a bird strike. Western Airlines used to routinely fly DCA-IAD, and then on to SLC.
