I would not fly in them Russian carcasses for any kind of money: old pieces of crap, pilots exhaling vodka fumes early in the day and terrible maintenance. I got talking to a couple of Ukranian pilots recently at the Le Bourget airport in Paris, they fly some bigwig in his Falcon 2000X around Europe and sometimes the U.S. as well. It was about 2 PM and it was obvious that they had started sipping early. Not that all Eastern-Europe pilots take to the bottle constantly, but this minor episode says a lot about them.
Well, they haven't been made since 1984. If they don't keep them up, they will crash from time to time and as with anything old, it will break periodically, even with good MX.
These planes should be banned from flying everywhere. There have been tons of tuplovs crashing these last few years. Aren't these already banned in the EU, Russia, and the US?
I think EU and US; not sure about Russia
Well, they quit making DC-9's in 86 and there are still plenty of them flying. MX probably has a lot to do with it.
I just saw there was the same story posted on here so I didn't want to flood the squawks with dupes. Sorry about that.
