LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — It wasn’t a bird, it wasn’t a plane, and it wasn’t a man in a jetpack. Images captured by an LAPD helicopter crew of a so-called “jet pack man” sighting were released this week. However, the figure was not actually a man, but a Jack Skellington balloon flying high above the city. About a year ago, while turning base to land at about 700 feet, I had an encounter with a "number 5" balloon. It startled me and I did a yank to the left. It probably came from a birthday party at a nearby national park. ATC should have said "Number 2 for landing following the birthday party balloon."

with so many people now having access to drones,i am not surprised this doesnt happen more often..pilots usally report "strange" things they see, as their vantage point is far different than those of us on the ground..

Every UFO TV program always states how pilots make such great witnesses. Well so much for that, time and time again they get it completely wrong!
