I believe that this air strip is home of Priority Air, a small cargo carrier.

Very sad for the lives and the old plane. Sounds like the pilot did a good job putting it down without too much damage on the ground.

Thhis particular DC-3 was modified in South Africa with P&W PT-6 turbines.

Looks like it was a PT6 powered DC-3TP.
I'm wondering if it was a lack of fuel since there was no fire.

I didn't even know there was a turboprop version of the DC-3 until this. Very sad. The pilot was also the manager of the airport (OH22) the plane was based at.

There are several different turbine conversions, the most popular is done by Basler in Oshkosh.

I just saw this on the morning news. The NTSB and FAA will not investigate due to the shutdown. The guy who owns the house was really lucky. RIP to the crew.

That's just not true, they will investigate. From the article, "The FAA and NTSB each said no investigators immediately would inspect the crash site because of the record-long government shutdown. The NTSB added that it would look into the incident once the government reopens."

I thought someone would have to investigate. Makes sense but who is going to secure the crash scene in the mean time? Is the aircraft just going to sit there until they get back to work. Just curious how that's going to work out.

Fox 8 Cleveland's article has a couple aerial pictures. It looks like the left wing may have clipped the snow on the roof of the Preferred Airports hangar.

So sad - prayers for the families of what I imagine are young pilots earning time with risk they shouldn't have had to take.
